Zonzo RoRo - A festive fizz

RoRo is the bottle you open when Christmas needs a gentle start rather than a full tilt launch into the day. Especially if you are on it before you've had as much as a slab ham on toast. Zonzo Estate’s sparkling red aperitivo is festive without being feral. Utterly light, bright and crucially, only 8% ABV. Which means Aunt Joan can stay merry, engaged and upright well past the prawns.
In the glass you'll find a cheerful ruby sparkle that feels instantly celebratory without tipping into novelty. Aromas skew fresh and playful with red berries, cherry skin and a whisper of spice, more panettone crumbs than Christmas pudding.
The palate is where RoRo really earns its spot on the table. Dry, sprightly and lifted with enough acidity to keep things refreshing and enough savoury edge to hold its own against salty snacks and pre lunch nibbling. It wakes up the appetite, sharpens the banter and doesn’t bully the room. You might even keep drinking through the roast beef and on to the plum duff.
But mostly, this is a before wine. The one poured with olives, prosciutto, chips that mysteriously disappear and relatives you’re happy to see at least at this stage of the day. Serve it super chilled, preferably outdoors and keep it coming without consequence. We added a dash of ginger beer which made it even more festive.
RoRo understands Christmas dynamics better than most bottles. It’s inclusive, unpretentious and knows restraint is sometimes the most generous thing you can offer.
Festive fizz. Red fruit joy. Family harmony intact. And Aunt Joan vertical to pour herself into an Uber home.
