All Saints 2019 Marsanne

There is a lot of wine I like. A lot. And my taste wanders from finding quirky alternative varietals, to wandering back to robust and fruity chardonnays, shiraz and cabernets.

Marsanne is another of those wines I keep wandering back to - an ethereal Rhone varietal from southern France - either as a single grape or part of an MRV (Marsanne Roussane Viognier) often found in Victoria's Strathbogie and Goulburn Valley regions.

All Saints in Victoria's Rutherglen region offers a departure from the usual pear and cashew flavours to something a little different.

The nose is bright and fresh, with strong citrus, honeysuckle and peach notes. Not racy or zippy, this has a more refined palate. Where others can be a bit more waxy or oily, and play more in the herby space, this is a very fruit driven and textural iteration of Marsanne.

A light to medium bodied wine, this has a pale straw colour, and along with the fruit, has a minerally character and generous acid, with a structured, textural finish. This will match with just about anything, from a cheeky bag of salty crisps to a pork roast, or have it with a creamy pasta or prawn linguine. It's super versatile and super value.
