Frankie's Top Shop has survived the global pandemic, not unscathed but certainly in a good position. This might have something to do with the exceptional service and the fact it is Michelle Curtis is behind this place - a noted Melbourne food writer and advocate for local and seasonal produce. Michelle is a consumate host and clearly has the respect of and for her staff.

The food is very good. We were a group of 6 but with a few double ups, we only had three dishes. A potato roesti with smoked salmon, smashed peas, horseradish crème fraiche, red onion pickle & poached egg was a standout. Generous and absolutely delicious. We would easily order this again.

Crispy buttermilk chicken burger with slaw, chipotle mayonnaise, cheddar, pickles & sweet potato fries was another winner. The #beerscoffer is as much a lover of a fine burger as he is a ripping craft brew, and gave this a very big thumbs up!

Other company ordered a special of pulled pork, spinach, hollandaise and poached eggs and given the veracity with which it was consumed, again, it was also highly regarded.

Frankie's Top Shop is popular for a reason. Unusually for us, it was hard to find fault with anything. A Prosecco mimosa was great, coffee is excellent, including a most excellent batch brew. Our very short wait and the effort made to fit the six of us very quickly was appreciated. Check out their take home meals as well... They are well worth you not cooking for the night.

Frankies Top Shop is at 20 Cowderoy Street, West St Kilda.

Bookings essential if you want to get a seat.

Open Mon-Fri 7am-3.00pm, Sat 7.30am-3.00pm, Sun 8am-2.30pm
